RTI is the right to information Bill which was passed by the Pakistani MAJLIS-E-SHOORA (PARLIAMENT) in 2017. This Act gives the right to every citizen to claim access to the information. Masses can ask any public office regarding their performance or their work. Assuming some scenarios; You took a test for a states’ job and you doubt that job was not given on merit. RTI Law facilitates you in this manner. You can ask for the final merit list for the job. You are visiting a public hospital for many days and the doctor is not present. RTI strengthens you to get the right to information. If a government office is not helping you in your work and is delaying. RTI clears the picture in front of you. You can find out the details of your areas’ government contracts and expenditures as well. RTI enables a citizen to have a check on states’ matters and performance.
HOW CAN YOU GET INFORMATION?
RTI is just a blank sheet of paper away. It will surprise you that you don’t require any fee or stamp paper. Even if you don’t need to stand in a queue. You need to write an application and submit it with the Public Information officer of any government institution. These public information officers are appointed just to facilitate people. This is what their job is. These officers are legally bound to provide any information requested. They have to coordinate with you within 14 days.
